African proverb: God is good but never dance with a lion.
Meaning: We all get tempted with doing something unethical or unwise. But you know, not every temptation happens by chance. Some temptations are self-induced. In other words, for some temptations we would never have encountered them in the first place if we did not initiate or invite them. You cannot walk on hot coals not expect your feet to burn. You cannot refuse to brush your teeth and not expect your mouth to smell. "You cannot live a positive life with a negative mind" (anonymous). If you dance with a lion and you are victimized, it doesn't prove God as powerless, it rather proves you as foolish or careless. God certainly does not compensate for foolishness or carelessness.
